Built in the middle of the 12th century in the place of the initial Roman cathedral, it took over 100 years to build the Notre-Dame Cathedral in the centre of Rouen. The remains of the Norman conquerors were left to rest there, including, among others, Rollon, first Duke of Normandy and Richard Lionheart. Later, the cathedral became an icon of impressionism, thanks to Claude Monet's genius who dedicated no less than 30 paintings to it between 1892 and 1894. Inseparable from the city of Rouen, the tall silhouette of the building is now a historic place where numerous artistic and cultural events take place.
